With a technical background and a degree in mechanical engineering, Fabio, 37, is responsible for production at Vsystem, coordinating the plastic deformation and welding departments.

“I oversee everything relating to production”, he begins, “so coordination of the departments and management of the workflow and staff. Essentially, I ensure that products exit the factory according to a project’s pre-defined time frames and methods, so that every aspect of production dovetails to achieve the final goal.”

Fabio’s role in the company is very varied and this is one of the aspects he appreciates the most: “The workday begins in the morning with me taking care of organizational aspects” he continues. “I meet with colleagues in production and set out the day’s tasks and priorities, taking advantage of our direct relationships to define the operational planning. It’s not always smooth sailing and sometimes there can be problems of course, a delay, an unexpected task we need to prioritize for a client, or the urgent repair of materials. So, the workflow needs to be organized in a way that allows Vsystem to continue with its normal activity and absorb any unanticipated tasks before they become emergencies. Coordination also involves other company departments, such as the Technical Office, Purchasing, or Quality. All the departments need to pull together in the same direction and priorities need to be shared to ensure maximum efficiency. Communication and time management are key here. I communicate with every single operator, discussing the tasks in detail and considering the production requirements, criticalities, and best solutions.”

Days that continuously evolve require dedication, skill and a good dose of passion, a subject Fabio touches on as he talks about his professional path and what led him to Vsystem.

“This job reflects my character”, he explains, “but it’s one I came to via a process of elimination, after working in different corporate roles and gaining an overview of activities in and outside a factory. On graduating from university, I started in the technical office where I was involved in design. I then specialized in more of a technical sales area, and that was a very interesting and educational period, but it confirmed to me that my interests lie more in what happens inside the company, from building the team to system operation. And so, after my experiences outside the factory, I came back in to follow the production processes, manage relations, and coordinate people. Motivating people by putting them in a position to be able to give their best is the part of the job that excites me most.”

A job that is never boring, confirms Fabio, because no two days are ever the same.

“It’s stressful at times, and you always have the impression that the chain of events is seamless and never stops”, he continues. “This dynamic does not just have to do with motorsport and its accelerated pace but is unique to the role. The company is an extremely complex environment, in which the pieces don’t always just fall into place. Yet if we tackle things with the right spirit and define the priorities, we are constantly spurred on to improve without ever feeling that we’re there yet. This, because we’re always facing new situations, something that might sound tiring but that I find fun, exciting and engaging, especially if we add in the relationships with people, who are the real added value of a company. At Vsystem, we are fortunate to have highly motivated and capable people who can express themselves and grow thanks to the challenging markets we oversee and the tools and technologies that make us front runners in Europe: real motivation to achieve ever better results.”
